Infrastructure development, human development index, and CO2 emissions in China: A quantile regression approach

This study investigates the relationships between infrastructure development, human development index (HDI), and CO 2 emissions in China. Infrastructure has played an essential role achieving social economic developmental goals China, but environmental pollution significantly increased country last two decades. Our analysis uses time series data from 1990 to 2021 quantile regressions, we find that positive statistically significant with HDI, emissions, GDP all quantiles. Recent upgrades improve living standards increase HDI damage environment, is main source of country. Therefore, government should invest sustainable mitigate emissions. The may consider options such as low carbon transportation, including railway infrastructure, urban metros, light rail.
